Slav is 14 years old boy living in Bettystown, Co. Meath with his brother Vlad (16), sister Mishka (24) and mum & dad. Slav was diagnosed in January 2018 with very rare and aggressive type of cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, stage IV. Slav undertook 27 weeks of very harsh chemotherapy that included cocktail of 4 different chemo agents: Doxorubicin, Vincristin, Actinomicin D and Ifosfamide. Doctors in Ireland advised that there is no additional treatment available in Ireland – in case Slav’s disease gets worse…
Although his MRI is still not completely clear, he is still improving with all the extra private treatments that we do. Slav’s cancer infiltrated into his bones and caused compression fractures of his 6 vertebrae.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is helping to prevents further damage on his vertebrae, helping him to improve immunity and it also has anticancer effects.
Slav currently commutes for the oxygen treatment 3-5 times a week around 500km plus other appointments on the top of that. Hours spent in the car cause bad pain in his spine and it is also extremely time consuming so he could not return to school yet. Purchasing hyperbaric oxygen chamber for home use will be extremely helpful and beneficial for Slav. He will be able to use it even twice a day.
We cannot achieve this without the help of other people as this equipment is not covered by HSE. The hyperbaric chamber is going to be purchased from the official and certified submarine manufacturer and it cost around 70k.
We are extremely grateful for your support and donations that will be used solely for Slav’s medical treatment and purchase of the oxygen chamber that he needs.
Slav’s fight is far from being over and Slav will need the oxygen treatment for years.
We greatly appreciate any donations, no matter how small and spreading our appeal.
Please, feel free to contact us if you have any questions or ideas for fundraiser events. Thank you!note: We raised around 10k (offline fundraisers, gofundme and facebook)
from 70k needed, so far (8th November 2019)
Please, note that gofundme page is not showing actual balance and includes funds that were already spent on his treatment last year. Thus we are still fundraising for his oxygen chamber.
Thank you for your help and support.
